The Top 10 Worst Movies of 2021

Introduction

2021 is shaping up to be one of the worst years in movie history. With so many terrible films already released and even more on the way, it can be hard to know which ones to avoid.

That's why we've put together a list of the ten worst movies of 2021. These films are so terrible that you'd be better off staying at home and watching reruns of The Office for the twentieth time. So without further ado, here are the ten worst movies of 2021:

"The King's Man"

The King's Man, the prequel to the popular Kingsman movie series, was easily one of the worst movies of 2021. Critics panned it for its terrible acting, laughable plot, and cheesy one-liners.

You walked out of the theater after watching it, feeling angry and duped. You thought you were going to see a badass spy movie filled with action and intrigue, but instead you got a slapstick comedy that made you want to vomit.

If there's one thing that The King's Man proved, it's that prequels are never a good idea.

"Fantasy Island"

"Fantasy Island" was one of the worst movies of 2021. It was a remake of the classic TV show of the same name, and it was pretty terrible.

You may be wondering why we're even talking about it. The answer is simple: because it was so bad that it deserves to be remembered. "Fantasy Island" was basically a slap in the face to all fans of the original show. It had wooden acting, bad dialog, and a nonsensical plot.

If you're ever looking for a good movie to watch, we recommend avoiding "Fantasy Island" at all costs.

"The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run"

It's safe to say that 2021 was a terrible year for movies. In fact, the only good thing about it was the release of "The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run." But even that wasn't all that great.

In a year dominated by reboots, sequels, and adaptations, it's no surprise that the list of the worst movies of 2021 is dominated by them too. But there were a few original stinkers too. Here's our top 10 list:

10) "The Huntsman: Winter's War"

9) "Jurassic World 3"

8) "Terminator: Dark Fate"

7) "Cats"

6) "Ghostbusters 2020"

5) "The Last Knight"

4) "RoboCop Returns"

3) "The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run"

2) "Fast and Furious 9"

1) "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice"

"The Grudge"

It's with a heavy heart that we announce the release of "The Grudge" – one of the worst movies of 2021. This reboot of the popular horror franchise is plagued with problems from start to finish.

The acting is wooden, the plot is convoluted, and the scares are few and far between. To make matters worse, the movie is so long that you'll likely lose interest long before it's over. Save yourself the trouble and skip this one.

"Underwater"

What the hell happened to you, movie world? We were all just getting along, and then you went and made "Underwater." We get it, you wanted to make a movie about people who are underwater. But that's like making a movie about people who are in space, or people who are on the moon. It's not really interesting, is it?

We're not sure what was going through your head when you greenlit this project, but we're guessing it was something along the lines of "Hey, this'll be a cool idea!" Well, it wasn't. It was a terrible idea. You should be ashamed of yourself.

"The Call of the Wild"

"The Call of the Wild" is a movie about a dog who leaves his cushy home in California to live in the wild. Spoiler alert: the dog hates it and wants to go back to his human family.

This movie was so bad that it was nominated for six Golden Raspberry Awards, which are given to the worst movies of the year. It lost out on Worst Picture, Worst Screenplay, and Worst Director, but it did win Worst Actor for actor Harrison Ford. Ouch.

"The Rhythm Section"

Hey, it's that time of year again – time to reflect on the year's biggest cinematic turds. 2021 was a great year for movies, right?

Nah, not really. In fact, there were quite a few stinkers released this year. But, of all the bad movies released in 2021, one in particular stands out as the worst of the worst. Ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, I give you: "The Rhythm Section".

What could have been a gripping mystery thriller was instead a convoluted mess of a movie. The acting was terrible, the plot made no sense, and the ending was just plain awful. If you want to see a good mystery thriller, check out "Knives Out" instead. "The Rhythm Section" is best avoided at all costs.

"Cats"

You thought "The Emoji Movie" was bad? "Cats" is going to be the worst movie of 2021. The film, based on the Broadway musical of the same name, tells the story of a tribe of cats called the Jellicles who must choose one cat to ascend to the Heaviside Layer and be reborn.

Needless to say, the movie has been met with overwhelmingly negative reviews. The Guardian calls it "a catastrophic misfire on every imaginable level", while RogerEbert.com says "it's dull, ugly, pointless, and not in any way funny". Ouch.

If you're planning on seeing this movie, we suggest you abort mission – and go see something else instead.

"Downhill"

Hey, movie geek! We're sorry to say that 2021 is looking pretty bleak when it comes to movies. In fact, the only thing worth saving is the January release of "Downhill."

This movie has all the makings of a disaster: a weak script, poor acting, and a nonsensical plot. It tells the story of a family vacation gone wrong, and stars Will Ferrell and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

We don't know about you, but we're not wasting our time or money on this one. So mark it down in your calendars now, and we'll see you at the theater in January!

"Dolittle"

You're probably thinking, "What the hell? How can they include 'Dolittle' in a list of Worst Movies of 2021?" We'll tell you why. First and foremost, the movie is a colossal flop. It made only $77 million at the box office against a $175 million production budget.

Second, it was panned by critics. Rotten Tomatoes has it at a 5% rating, with only 18 reviews counted. And third, it was nominated for multiple Golden Raspberry Awards, including Worst Picture and Worst Actor (Robert Downey Jr).

In short, 'Dolittle' is a terrible movie and you should definitely avoid it if you can.

Conclusion

You wanted the best, but you got the worst.
