Best musical Shows and Movies

Introduction

When it comes to musicals, I have to say that I'm not the biggest fan. However, there are a few musicals that stand out in my mind as the best. Here are my top.

 The Sound of Music

Julie Andrews is one of the best actresses ever and this movie is just so perfect!

 West Side Story

This movie still makes me cry every time I watch it (and I watch it at least once a year).

South Pacific

Another one of my favorite musicals/plays/whatever you want to call them...it's just so good!

Annie

This musical has everything you could want from your perfect musical (a great story line, amazing music and even some silly moments) and then some more!

It stars Anna Kendrick as Poppy, Justin Timberlake as Branch (the leader), Russell Brand as Knut (the king) and James Corden as Oscar.[3]

Pitch Perfect 2

Pitch Perfect 2 is a 2015 American musical comedy film directed and choreographed by Trish Sie and written by Kay Cannon. A sequel to the 2012 film Pitch Perfect, it is the second installment in the Pitch Perfect film series and was released on May 15, 2015 by Universal Pictures.

There are some pretty awesome scenes in this movie that we definitely recommend watching if you haven't already seen them!

Sing

Sing is a 2016 American 3D computer-animated musical comedy film produced by Illumination Entertainment. It is directed by Garth Jennings and co-directed by Christophe Lourdelet. The premise of Sing revolves around an opera singer who has lost his voice in order to be a star again he must find a way to get his voice back

Moana

Moana is a 2016 American 3D computer-animated musical fantasy adventure film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. It is the 52nd animated feature in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series, and was directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, who also wrote the script with Don Hall (who also worked on The Princess and the Frog).

The film tells the story of how Moana sets sail to save her people from a powerful curse by locating three mystical stones. The film's music was composed by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mark Mancina, Dwayne Johnson and Opetaia Foa'i with lyrics written by J.A. Bayona & E. Gerber, who had both previously worked together on "Monsters vs Aliens".

The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996)

The Hunchback of Notre Dame is a 1996 Disney animated musical film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and released by Walt Disney Pictures. It is based on the 19th century French novel Notre-Dame de Paris by Victor Hugo and other sources.

The movie is about Quasimodo, a deformed bell ringer for the cathedral who has been ostracized by society because of his appearance. But when he meets Esmeralda, a gypsy girl who can hear beautiful music in even the most mundane objects, he begins to transform into someone more human as well as gain a better understanding of himself and others around him.

The Greatest Showman

The Greatest Showman is about P.T. Barnum, an American showman born in 1810 who started out as a small-time con artist and ended up making his fortune by creating the largest traveling circus on Earth. The film follows him from his humble beginnings to becoming one of the most famous men in America—and it's not just because he had some great ideas; he also had a gift for marketing himself as something much larger than life (and more entertaining).

The movie also tells us how he was instrumental in getting Congress to pass laws protecting American performers from exploitation by European circuses when they came over here with their shows during this era before unions were formed so that everyone could make money without having these issues arise again later down the line when someone else took over ownership rights from someone else who decided not wanting anymore part ownership anymore than needed."

Beauty and the Beast (2017)

Beauty and the Beast is a 2017 American romantic fantasy film directed by Bill Condon from a screenplay written by Stephen Chbosky and Evan Spiliotopoulos, and also produced by David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman. It is based on the 1991 animated film of the same name. The film stars Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as Beast, Luke Evans as Gaston and Ian McKellen as Cogsworth.

Trolls World Tour

Trolls World Tour is a 2016 American 3D computer-animated musical adventure comedy film directed by Mike Mitchell and co-directed by Walt Dohrn. It is the sequel to the 2010 film Trolls starring Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake and Zooey Deschanel. The film was released in theaters on November 4th, 2016 with a total grossing $76 million against its budget of $80 million.

The plot follows Poppy (Kendrick), who has been sent to rescue her friends from a group of trolls who are holding them captive in their caves under Mount Craggy Mountain; however she ends up getting lost along her way until she meets Branch (Timberlake) who helps her find his friend Grommet (Chris Pine) and brings him along as well as some other friends including Fawna (Deschanel).

Frozen 2

Frozen 2 is a sequel to the 2013 film Frozen, which was about two sisters who try to find their way back home after being separated by an evil queen. The second movie picks up where the first left off—with Elsa's powers now growing stronger as she tries to control them, but she still can't fully control her powers. After accidentally hurting her sister Anna in an attempt to stop them from leaving Arendelle forever, Elsa flees into the mountains with Kristoff while trying to figure out what exactly happened during their journey across Arendelle. She finds herself surrounded by ice trolls who want nothing more than steal her magic; meanwhile at home Anna spends most of her time locked up in jail because of Anna's actions towards Elsa ("What Would Hans Do?"). Eventually both sisters set off on another adventure together against whatever threat may come next!

The soundtrack has been released since November 2018 so far with only two songs: "Let It Go" by Idina Menzel & Kristen Anderson Thomas from its original Broadway debut in early 2013 through January 2014 before being reworked into this new recording featuring Demi Lovato & Josh Gad; plus "For The First Time In Forever" sung by Sia Furler

La La Land

La La Land is a 2016 American musical romantic comedy-drama film written and directed by Damien Chazelle. The film tells the story of Mia (Emma Stone) and Sebastian (Ryan Gosling), two aspiring actors in Los Angeles who are struggling to make it big until they meet each other. They fall in love while pursuing their dreams, but this comes with complications because they're both trying to be famous while living with their respective families.

The film follows them through various adventures as they pursue their dreams and face obstacles along the way.[4] It received widespread critical acclaim upon release, winning the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy; BAFTA Award for Best Film Not in English; Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Musical/Comedy Nomination; Screen Actors Guild Award Outstanding Performance by a Cast Nomination.[5][6]

Music is a form of art, expression, entertainment and communication. It can also be used for relaxation and education. Music has been around since the beginning of time and it's always changing with technology. There are so many different types of music that you could listen to depending on your mood or the type of event you're attending (weddings usually involve classical music).
