What to watch on Netflix

Introduction

Netflix is the biggest streaming service in the world. It's also a great place to find entertainment, including movies and TV shows for all ages. Netflix has something for everyone, from binge-watching your favorite shows to hanging out with friends and family over pizza. Here are some of our favorite Netflix originals—and there are many more!

Orange is the New Black

Orange is the New Black is a comedy-drama series that premiered on Netflix in 2013. It focuses on Piper Chapman, a woman who is sentenced to 15 months in prison after being convicted of drug trafficking. While she serves her time, she must adjust to life in prison while also trying to find a way out.

The show features an ensemble cast including Taylor Schilling as Piper Chapman; Laura Prepon as Alex Vause; Natasha Lyonne as Nicky Nichols; Laverne Cox as Sophia Burset; Kate Mulgrew as Red Dog and Uzo Aduba as Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren

Stranger Things

Stranger Things is a show about a group of friends who are trying to solve the mystery of what happened to Will Byers. It's set in Indiana and centers on four young boys: Dustin, Lucas, Mike and Will. They're all 11 years old; they live in Hawkins, Indiana (a fictional town); their mom works at a coffee shop where she shares custody with their father who has left her for another woman named Karen Wheeler. The kids spend most of their time trying to find out why Will disappeared or why there have been strange events happening around town lately — like the disappearance of Barb McQueen's son Billy—which may or may not have something do with something else going on involving adults' shady dealings with shady people who want something from them but don't tell them what it is until later in the series when viewers get some answers about what everyone's been doing while having fun together before everything goes south...

Master of None

Master of None is a comedy-drama about Dev (Aziz Ansari), an actor in New York City. He also owns a restaurant with his best friend, Denise (Lena Waithe). The series follows the ups and downs of his romantic relationships, as well as his attempts to find success in show business. The show was created by Aziz Ansari and Alan Yang; they also serve as executive producers along with writer Lena Waithe, who stars as Denise on Master of None.

The Crown

Netflix has a great new show on its hands, and it's called The Crown.

The series follows the story of Queen Elizabeth II, who ascended to the throne in 1952. The first season covers her early years as queen, while the second season covers a decade from 1963 to 1973. The third season will focus on 1970s pop culture (you know: punk rock), while the fourth will take us into 1980s London!

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is a sitcom about a woman who escapes from a doomsday cult and tries to rebuild her life in New York City. The show was created by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, and stars Ellie Kemper in the title role. It's also known for its hilarious dialogue, which is often repeated by fans online (and often included on memes).

Planet Earth II

Planet Earth II is a documentary series that documents the planet's wildlife and landscapes. The series was shot over a period of three years, in 4K resolution (4K UHD). It features some of the most beautiful shots of nature on this planet—from lions hunting antelope to polar bears swimming in icy waters.

In addition to being stunningly shot, Planet Earth II offers an interesting take on how we can use our knowledge about animals to help save them from extinction. For example, one segment shows us how scientists used data collected by satellites orbiting above Antarctica so they could predict where penguins were going: “We knew when they were laying eggs because we were able to see those eggs hatch and grow into chicks."

Black Mirror

Black Mirror is a British science fiction anthology television series created by Charlie Brooker. The first two series aired on Channel 4 in the UK, while the third and fourth series were aired on Netflix. Each episode of Black Mirror explores contemporary social issues with an irreverent approach to genre storytelling.

Each episode of Black Mirror focuses on a specific theme, such as gender identity or surveillance society; however, all episodes contain common elements: they are darkly funny and satirical; they involve technology that can be seen as either beneficial or harmful; they often involve characters who are struggling against forces beyond their control (or even within themselves).

These are some shows on Netflix you should absolutely watch

If you're looking for the best shows on Netflix, here are some of the ones we recommend.

  • The Crown: This series is a historical drama about Queen Elizabeth II and her family from 1953 to 1964. The show stars Claire Foy as Her Majesty, Matt Smith as Prince Philip (who's also known as Philip), Vanessa Kirby as Princess Margaret and Helena Bonham Carter as Camilla Parker Bowles.

  • Stranger Things: This supernatural thriller follows four friends who go missing one summer in Hawkins, Indiana after being infected by a mysterious illness that puts them into an alternate dimension called "The Upside Down." It's based on the Duffer brothers' hit 80s movie about a boy who uses Dungeons & Dragons-style dice rolls to try to save his friends' lives against monsters from another universe who won't stop haunting his town until they're all dead! The cast includes Winona Ryder (who played Joyce Byers) but also Finn Wolfhard (who plays Mike Wheeler).

  • Black Mirror: Created by Charlie Brooker (who wrote TV shows such as Dead Set), this anthology series consists of six different episodes that examine modern technology through futuristic narratives such as social media dependency and drone warfare--and sometimes even reality itself! Each episode features an original story written specifically for Netflix so you get something new every time; however each one has its own style yet still feels like part of an overall story arc leading up until its conclusion at which point everything will be reset back into place again...and maybe even worse than before since now there'll only be seven episodes instead!"

Netflix Originals

Netflix Originals are shows and movies you can only watch on Netflix. They're usually exclusive to the platform, which means that they won't be available anywhere else. The most recent examples include Stranger Things, Narcos, The Crown (which is now in its second season), Orange Is the New Black (which has been renewed for a third season) and more.

Netflix also makes its own films like Bright starring Will Smith as an orc cop who becomes a human again after being killed by humans who wanted him dead because he was an Orc; Bird Box starring Sandra Bullock as someone who cannot see the world around them after seeing birds flying around her house all day long; Death Note with Nat Wolff playing Light Yagami's rival L Lawliet while Ellen Page plays Misa Amane who falls into darkness when she finds out that she has inherited Ryuk's notebook which contains information about death itself—and so much more!

Comedies

To start off, there are a number of comedies that deserve your attention. The Office is one of Netflix’s most popular comedy series, with seasons spanning from 2005 to 2013. It follows the lives of employees at Dunder Mifflin Paper Company and how they interact with each other. The cast includes Steve Carell as Michael Scott, John Krasinski as Jim Halpert, Rainn Wilson as Dwight Schrute (the manager), Ed Helms as Andy Bernard (the sales manager), Jenna Fischer as Karen Filippelli (Dwight’s girlfriend), Blythe Danner as Phyllis Vance (Michael's mother), Leslie David Baker as Stanley Hudson (Andy's father) and Mindy Kaling who plays Kelly Kapoor in this series' ninth season which began airing in 2017.

Other notable comedies include Friends which ran for 10 seasons on NBC until 2004; Fuller House which premiered on Netflix last year; Black-ish starring Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross who play parents to two kids named Andre Jr., played by Miles Brown; The Ranch starring Ashton Kutcher; Atypical starring Amy Santiago who plays a teenage girl living with autism spectrum disorder; Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt created by Tina Fey based off her experience growing up in New York City during the 1980s when she was abducted by doomsday cultists who took her underground where they tried all sorts of experiments on her body while also trying their best not only get out but also find someone else so they can have one more person join them...

If you're looking for a classic TV show to get your feet wet, here are some great options:

  • The Office

  • Friends

  • Cheers

  • Seinfeld (the classic American sitcom) * The Simpsons (longer than most of its competitors, but still funny) * How I Met Your Mother (a contemporary spin on the classic rom-com) * 30 Rock (a different kind of sitcom with an interesting cast and story line).

There's lots to watch on Ne3tflix

Netflix has a huge selection of content, and it’s easy to find what you want. You can choose from a wide variety of movies and TV shows, including original series like Stranger Things, or popular films like Black Panther. If you’re looking for something more niche or specific, there are also plenty of documentaries about politics and history available on Netflix.

Netflix is also home to many award-winning shows that have become cult classics over time—the streaming service even hosts its own documentary awards ceremony called “The People's Choice Awards!” These shows may not be as widely known outside their respective communities (like Game of Thrones), but they're still worth checking out if you're into them enough!

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Rogue One is the first in a series of anthology films, set before and after the original Star Wars movie. It's a war movie, and it's about a group of rebels who steal the plans for the Death Star, which they then use to destroy it during an attack on their home planet.

This is one of those movies that can be watched over and over again without getting boring—and with each viewing you'll learn something new about how these characters became what they are today!

A Cure for Wellness

This is a psychological thriller that's full of twists, turns and some seriously dark moments. It's directed by Gore Verbinski (director of The Ring, Pirates of the Caribbean and more), who also wrote it.

The film stars Dane DeHaan as Chris North—a young man who has just been diagnosed with cancer and must face his greatest fear: losing his mind to the disease. If that wasn't enough to deal with, he must also try to save himself from becoming one of those "normal" people he hates so much in order to find a cure for wellness before it takes over completely.

Towards the end of this eight-episode series' run on Netflix we're going to see two very different endings depending on which path our hero chooses at the end

The Prestige

If you're a fan of magic and mystery, this movie is for you. The Prestige (2006) follows Robert Angier, an up-and-coming magician who is competing with his mentor Christian Bale's character to become the best in London. It also stars Hugh Jackman as Alfred Borden and Michael Caine as Joseph Buxton, two other magicians who are both planning to expose Robert's secret.

The plot follows the rivalry between these three men as they compete against each other for fame and fortune—and ultimately what they want most: recognition from their peers or immortality through their art form? You'll have to watch this one yourself!

Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is a 2017 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name, produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is the sequel to 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy and the fifteenth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film was written and directed by James Gunn with Chris Pratt returning as Star-Lord/Peter Quill, Zoe Saldana reprising her role as Gamora and Dave Bautista returning as Drax The Destroyer.

The Truman Show

The Truman Show is a 1998 drama about a man who lives in the world of a popular television show, unaware that he's actually on location and being watched by millions of people. It stars Jim Carrey as Truman Burbank, an absolutely fantastic character who was born into this world but doesn't have any idea what it means to be part of it. The film was directed by Peter Weir and won multiple awards, including Best Picture at the Golden Globes and Best Director for Weir at Cannes Film Festival.

The Hateful Eight

The Hateful Eight is a 2015 film by Quentin Tarantino. It stars Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell and Jennifer Jason Leigh as bounty hunters who travel from Wyoming to post-Civil War California in order to collect a debt owed by an imprisoned Confederate soldier ( Walton Goggins ). The story takes place during the extreme snowfall of 1878/1879 (the "Wet Snow" winter), which has been described as "the most deadly time" of this period. In this climate of freezing temperatures, one man's attempt at redemption leads him into conflict with his fellow travelers while they try not only survive but also get their money back!

The Hateful Eight was released on Netflix on December 25th 2015 and it's still available today!

Captain Fantastic

  • Captain Fantastic is a 2016 film starring Viggo Mortensen and directed by Matt Ross. It was based on the novel of the same name, which was written by Ken Kesey and published in 1967. The plot revolves around a family who live off of their own land in upstate New York. Their father (Mortensen) has been away at university for decades but now returns home with his wife (Brie Larson), son (Vaughn De Leath) and daughter (Laia Costa). They all have extreme differences: the mother struggles with an eating disorder while her husband grows vegetables on his property while his son becomes obsessed with music production; meanwhile their daughter’s interest lies more towards yoga than studying psychology like he does because she feels like it isn't making any sense to focus on that path as well when everything else about them seems so different from each other!

Bronson

Bronson, starring Tom Hardy as Michael Peterson and with a screenplay by the director of Peaky Blinders and Fargo, is a biopic about the real-life Bronson. It's based on the book Prisoner of Love: The True Story of My Life in HMP Wandsworth Prison by David Grann (who also wrote The Lost City of Z). In this film, you'll follow Peterson from his childhood as an orphan to getting arrested for murder at age 17 and being sent to prison for life without parole.

You'll see how he takes up boxing so he can fight back against his imprisonment; what it's like working out in prison; how not everyone gets along with him because he's such a bad guy; why people think he killed someone when they know differently; how one inmate helps him get through those difficult times while another tries to kill him multiple times over!
